Summary / Abstract :

On 30 December, the US congress voted to grant the Nixon Administration's request for $255 million in aid for the Lon Nol regime in Cambodia. Earlier, not with standing strong opposition from its chairman, J-william Fulbright, the senate foreign relations committee had by a majority vote, agreed to the request. As the majority leader senator Mike Mansfield pointed out, $255 million would be just a second down payment for Lon Nol.
