Wether or not the US stays, or gets out of Cambodia, or Vietnam for that matter, prabably depends on what happens in the elections in the US Lon Nol cannot be maintained in power by any local forces at all; it has to be a foreign force to keep him there. Where will it come from? South Vietnam? It can't. The resistance force hase seized recently the whole of Hoghway 1 in Cambodia that runs from Phnom Penh to Saigon. The representative of Sihanouk's Gorverment in Paris told me the other day that Lon Nol got to the phone to Thieu in Saigon to ask for [ Army of Republic of South Vietnam] reinforcements to help reopen the highway and Thieu said, "Are you crazy!".
