Historically, the 1945-1973 period was only a stage in the long liberation process of the Lao people. But in terms of its significance to the facts of Laos, that is an unprecedented one. During these twenty eighe years, the Lao people fought jointly with the other fraternal of the Indochinese peninsula against two successive and most brutal aggressions by two big imperialist powers, France and the United States.
