Cambodia: New year victories for the KPNLAF: As 1975 began the National Liberation Armed Forces of Cambodia followed up the successes gained during the first months of the dry season by launching a new offensive on all battlefields and won major victories. The patriotic forces opened fire at exactly 01.00 am on January first, 1975 taking the enemy completely unawares. Up to January 15, 1975, the KPNLAF have razed 260 enemy position and posts, and annilhilated 5,175 enemy troops. On the Phnom Penh front after razing many fortified positions and liberating many "strategic villages" they are advancing toward the capital from the east, northeast, west northwest and southwest, only 5 kilometres away at central places.
