Little doubt remains that "Communist" forces in Cambodia could easily topple the Government of Dictator Lon Nol. If the coup de grace has not been delivered, it is only because the "Communist" are reluctant to assume the burdan of adminidtrating the conquest. "Communist" interest in Cambodia is purely military. The country's eastern sector, which borders South Vietnam, has been a vital staging area for operations against U.S and South Vietnamese forces beyond the frontier. Deploying whatever forces where needed to parry any flanking threat the Cambodians at their rear havae posed in the past, the "Communist" have managed to all but neutralize Lon Nol's army. P1
