Tet, the Vietnames luna new year is sorth of everyone's birthday, easter and end of year celebration wrapped into one above all, Tet means spring, flowers, freshness, rejuvenation, reassesment expectation of future fulfiment rather than many sad reflections on the past. The legend recounted here reflects this spirit. It take US back to the time more than two thousand year ago when Vietnamese society was in stransition from the hunting of animals and gathering of clams, wild berries and roots, to a more sedentary agricultural system based on methodical cultivation of rice.
