On December 21, the PLAF of Thu Dau Mot province hammered at Lai Khe base on road No. 13 (30 Km North of Thu Dau Mot twon) defending the North of Saigon. They wiped out hundred of enemy troops, destroyed many fortifications, depots, artillery sites, tanks and armoured cars and other military eqipment. This on set triggered off a big conflagration at the base. On the night of December 22 and 23, PLAF men gave 18 battle to Saigon troops all over South Vietnam. At Thien Ngon base, Tai Ninh province dump coused the explosion of 500 cannon shells.
