A few hundred yards past the eat market gardens where workers were tending the lettuces and tomatoes for tomorrow's salads the battle suddenly swung into view. There were armoured personnel carriers in line across the green fields, firing into a tree-line in which the Khmer Rouge were presumably entrenched.
