Summary / Abstract :
|
A new constitution proclaiming the Democratic State of Cambodia was ratified by a council of ministers that look place on the 3rd of January, 1976. Prince Norodom Sihanouk presided over the meetings. The Constitution has six charpters, 21 articles. The state consists of workers and peasants. Article five states that the popular assembly consist of 250 deputies, of which 150 are peasants, 50 of which are workers and 50 of which are soldiers-all elected by universal suffrage. It is this assembly which name the member of the government-at present: Prince Sihanouk President, Khieu Samphan 1st vice-president, Ieng Sary 2nd vice-president.
