FACED with an imminerit famine, the Khmer Rouge allowed the people to return to their native provinces. On May 6, I was allowed to leave Chruoy (south of the capital city) to return to Battambang where I was born. Unfortunately, the decision was not universal and at Chhoc Truoc we were detained to be led by road to Anhchanh Roung where a village was to being built in the middle of the forest for those who had just been evacuated.
