Summary / Abstract :
Since the Khmer Rouge Victory April 17 of last year, Cambodia has become one of the world's most isolated and mysterious nation. Scraps of information occasionally filter out through socialist diplomats who visit Phnom Penh, and sometime from mainly on the economy. But the overwhelming source of news comes from the 50 to 200 Cambodian refugees who flee to Thailand each month. The refugees-most have lost everything-tell the same orwellian tale of horror, of hardship and suffering, and accuase the new new regime of using brutal, heavy handed measures to insure complete cooperation.
