Many Thais, I can assure you, were astonished by the decision to "repatriate" 26 Cambodian refugees (Southeast Asia, Dec.10). Even though the many thousands of refugees from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam are an enormouse strain on the Kingdom's resources, it had always been understood that we would find a solution one way or another and certainly not by forcing such people to return and face certain death or imprisonment.
