The truth about Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge is begining to emerge and a breath takingly ugly truth it is. Two new books tell the story. "Cambodge Année Zero", published in Paris by Julliard, is an analysis of why the Khmer Rouge decided to destroy the old Cambodian civilisation and build something new in its place. Its author, Father Francis Ponchaud, is a French priest who lived in Cambodia for the 10 years preceding the take-over in April, 1975.
