Summary / Abstract :
|
Of the famous Cambodian trio, Khieu Samphan, Hou Youn and Hu Nim, who went underground in 1976 to emerge in 1970 as the shadowy leaders of the Khmer Rouge movement, nothing has been heards of Hou Youn since the fall of Phnom Penh. Western analysts believed that he was either killed in the last phase of war or eliminated in internal struggle. Recently, however, Phnom Penh officials have claimed that the Paris-trained Hou Youn is alive and tending to organisation. Cambodia watchers who have vainly looked for his name in the official media over the past two years are sceptical.
