Ampil Pram Daum, located about 70 kilometres northwest of Battambang, once was a large village in the midst of fertile rice fields. The original residents had disappeared, and their vacant houses, though damaged and decaying, could have provided adequate shelter for many of the approximately 2,000 refugees Angka Leu had consigned to this particular locale.
