On April 13, 1975, the inhabitants of Phnom Penh were celebrating the new year. I impatiently waited for the arrival of the revolutionary army, for since 1960 I had taken part, in all antiimperialist demonstrations. As the Lon Nol regime carriedout dictatorial repressions against the revolutionary youth movement, the overthrow of this regime was for me a source of immense joy. It was the joy to live in a revolutionary era, the joy to see another horizon, another society full of happiness and hope.
