Cambodians who have returned to this broken city feel they have been abandoned by the non-communist world. They can scarcely believe the Western countries still recognise the Pol Pot regime. In Chrange Chamreh village at the gate of Phnom Penh, I heard the same question again and again. "What are France and the United States doing? "Everynight, the villagers listen to Western broadcasts hoping for a reply.
