Summary / Abstract :
|
On March 17, the city of Kampong Speu was totally liberated from Vietnamese control after several days of intense fighting. On March 18, the Vietnamese forces regrouped and tried to take the city back, but the Revolutionary Army of Kampuchea repelled the attempt. According to a Radio Democratic Kampuchea broadcast, several hundred Vietnamese soldiers were killed in three days of fighting. Significantly, the corpse of a Soviet advisers was also found on the Kampong Speu battlefield.
