A European friend has just informed me that Soviet bloc diplomats are circulating rumours in diplomatic circles that Sihanouk will soon agree to cooperate with Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge and recover the position of head of state of Democratic Kampuchea. I would like formally to deny this rumour which does not bring any honour to those who circulate it.
