Contrary to the expectation that they would not negotiate through the press, Leaders of the Khmer Rouge and the Khmer people's National Liberation Front reiterated their maximum demands on arrival. Khmer Rouge President and Prime Minister Khieu Samphan drew attention to the fact that his Khmer soldiers numbering 30,000 to 40,000 constitutes the only credible force fighting the Vietnamese occupation troops and named against the danger of harming them and and his Government.
ផ្ទុយពីការរំពឹងទុកថា ពួកមិនបានចរចារគ្នាតាមរយះ សន្នុិសិទកាសែតមេដឹកនាំខ្មែក្រហម និងរណសិរ្សរំដោះជាតិកម្ពុជា បានរំលឹកឡើងវិញនៅការទាមទាររបស់ពួកគេលើការមកដល់។ ខៀង សំផន នាយករដ្ឋមន្ដ្រីកម្ពុជាប្រជាធិបតេយ្យ បានទម្លាយឱ្យដឹងថា លោកមានកងទ័ព ៣០០០០-៤០០០០ទ័ពខ្មែរ តាមរដ្ឋធម្មនុញ្ញគួរឱ្យទុកចិត្ដក្មុងប្រយុទ្ធនឹងកងទ័ពវៀតណាម និង ប្រយុទ្ធប្រឆាំងនឹងអ្វីដែលធ្វើឱ្យខូចខាតដល់ប្រយោជន៍ និងរដ្ឋាភិបាលរបស់ពួកគេ។
