Graveyards are uncommon in China. Confucian traditions and overpopulation have long made cremation preferable to burial. But on a serene mountainside in tropical Guagnxi province, row upon row of tombs can be seen in a cementry outside the small town of Ping Xiang. A few kilometers away lies the Northern reaches of Vietnam, where the soldiers buried in the tombs met their deaths.
