The war fought by the United States in Vietnam is the most important chapter in recent American history. It polarized American society in ways never seen before and ignited much of the political activism that came to be associated with the 1960s. Its huge cost fueled and inflationary spiral that remains with us in our economic crises to this day. It shaped America's Foreign and Military Policies and became the central issue in our relationships not only with Asian Countries but with Countries all over the globe.
