Across the border from this vulnerable pencil-thin salient, which marks Thailands southeast comer, ws the last reputed location of Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot. But not any more: Vietnamese troops have effectively secured the west bank of the Matoek river, The norrow waterway whihc runs parallel with the frontier before spiling into the gulf of Thailands and unless the rains force them to loosen their hold, Pol Pot seems desntined to spend most of his time much deeper inside Cambodia.
