Thai security authorities have agreed to allow Vietnamese troops a 2 km leeway before retaliating if they breach certain parts of the Thai-Cambodia border during the current dry season. The demacration line along some parts of the 700 km border is hazy and has been disputed by the Thai and the Vietnamese after incursions by Hanoi's troops during previous dry season offensives against Khmer resistance fighters.
