M. Le Duan, who has led Vietnam for 17 years since Ho Chi Minh's death in 1969, and Mr. Le Duc Tho, who negotiated the Vietnam War ceasefire with the former US secretary of state, Dr Henry Kissinger, will resign from the leadership in November, a senior Vietnameser communist party member said in an interview with a Japanese newspaper published yesterday.
