I am Sman Nop, a 76-year-old Muslim woman. I live in Cham Leu Village, Prek
Thmei Commune, Koh Thom District, Kandal Province. A younger brother, Sman Sleh, died in Tuol Sleng: My younger brother, Sman Sleh, lost his life in Tuol Sleng (S-21). Between 1973 and 1974, the Khmer Rouge conscripted villagers into their army. They took my younger brother, who was only 15 years old at the time. I don’t know the person who took my younger brother from home, but I think it was the village chief, Him Sleh. My brother has never returned or been seen since. A nephew, Sa Matt, died in Tuol Sleng: My nephew, Sa Matt, died in Tuol Sleng. My nephew left home and joined the army when he was only 14 years old. He and my younger brother were conscripted into the army at the same time and neither of them ever returned. It wasn’t until 2008 that was I informed by the Documentation Center of Cambodia that they both died in Tuol Sleng Prison. |
