Summary / Abstract :
The Vieitnamese troops assembled by the thousands at the port of Kampong Som in south west Cambodia. They were dressed in oversize uniforms and wide-brimmed helmets, with Soviet AK-47 rifles slung across their shoulders and U.S made howitzers in tow. Since Vietnam invaded Cambodia in 1978, these bodies , or young foot soldiers, have fought a seemingly endless war against Cambodian guerrillas determined to overthrow the Vietnamese- in stalled governement in Phnom Penh.
