Summary / Abstract :

On March 18, 1970 General Lon Nol and a clique of his military and civilian followers staged a coup d'tat ousting Smadech Prince Norodom Sihanouk from the position as head of state. The coup of 1970 could be said to be a turning point and the origin of major political changes, causing the political conflicts and war turbulance that has a span of continuity for a period of more than ten years.
