Her husband៌s name is Tum Dim. Boek has one son and two daughters.
Boek was born in Koh Ker village. Her father៌s name is Pheng, and her mother៌s is Keo. She had only one sister and now lives in Rumchek village. Boek did not go to school when she was young because there was no school in her village. She cannot read and write. Boek said there was a Buddhist pagoda in the village during Sangkum Reatr Niyum and the pagoda was close to the Piramit temple. The pagoda was closed after the KR arrived in village in early 1970s.
Boek married Dim when she was 19 years old. They worked in the rice fields. There were a lot of wild animals at that time. When the KR came to power in April 1975, Boek and other people in the village were forced to live and work in a cooperative. The KR evacuated a lot of new people (17 Mesa people) to live in Koh Ker village. At that time they were given only two meals per day of thin rice porridge.
When the KR collapsed in 1979, the Vietnamese soldiers arrived in her village. The Vietnamese accused her husband, Tum Dim, and other villagers of being KR spies and sent them to prison in Koulen district. Dim and three others died when the prison flooded.
In 1983, Boek and her family fled to live in Pyuor Chrouk, Koulen district and then her family was taken by the KR to Dangrek Mountain. Boek was in the Anlong Veng area for several years. Her family returned to Koh Ker village when the KR integrated with the Cambodian Government in 1998.
