Khuon Huon, female, 49 years old, lives in Koh Ker village, Srayang commune, Koulen district, Preah Vihear province.
Khuon៌s husband, Ret, was killed when the KR fought against the Cambodian government soldiers in 1994. Huon has four daughters and one son.
Huon៌s father is Tauch Khuon, and her mother is Chhum Chhem. Huon has five brothers and four sisters (three were killed during civil war after 1979). Huon is fifth in her family. She went to school during the KR regime and after 1979.
Huon was 13 years old when the KR came to power in 1975. She was assigned to a child unit in Rumchek village which was created by the KR regime. She was forced to work on a farm and cut small trees to produce fertilizer. The KR gave her only thin rice porridge twice per day.
In 1979, Huon returned to live with her parents in Koh Ker village. At that time, she went to school again but quit when she was in grade 5 of the primary school curriculum. In 1983, Huon and other villagers fled to live in Pyuor Chrouk village Koulen district because the KR and Vietnamese always used Koh Ker village as a battlefield. Huon and other villagers were mobilized by the KR to live at Dangrek Mountain. She lived in village 50, Dam Kang and Preah Pralay villages. At that time, Huon៌s husband joined as a KR soldier. He was in Ta Hoeun and Vann Kosal៌s division. Her husband was killed at a battlefield when the KR fought against the Cambodian government soldiers.
Huon and other villagers returned to Koh Ker village when the KR integrated with the government in 1999.
