Tuon Ry, female, 59 years old and lives in Tuol Prasat village, Tomnop Dach commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. Ry៌s husband is Run Phim. Ry has two daughters and four sons. Ry is a farmer.
Ry was born in Ta Det village, Chaeng Daeng commune, Baray district, Kampong Thom province. Ry៌s father is Men Hieng and her mother, Phan. Ry has two sisters and four brothers. Ry studied grade 12 (old system) at Ponnareay Primary School. Ry quitted from the school since before coup d៌état in 1970 because her family was poor condition. After the coup in 1970, the US also bombed in Cambodia. In 1973, Ry volunteered to join the KR. First she served as a medical staff in Chaeng Daeng commune. Phal was a chief of the unit and there were 60 staff in the unit. In 1974, Ry was in Division 3 of Northern Zone. When the KR entered Phnom Penh, the KR assigned Ry to clean streets and flats.
After 1975, Ry was in Division 920, and then she was sent to Mondul Kiri province. Chhin and Soy were chief and deputy chief of the division. San [06] became a chief of the division after Chhin and Soy were arrested and sent to Phnom Penh. Ry was in medical unit of the division. The unit was in Koh Nhek district of Mondul Kiri [105]. There were many soldiers died because of malaria affection. Da, Cho; and [Ta] Sae were leaders of Medical Unit.
When the Vietnamese arrived in Cambodia in 1979, Ry did not return her home village. She followed the KR to Cambodia-Thailand border instead. In 1980, Ry climbed up Dangrek Mountain. Ry was in the KR military base [1001]. Ry was still with [Ta] San of Division 920. Son Sen was chief of the base [1001]. In 1982, Ry married to Pheak. Unfortunately, Pheak was killed by Vietnamese in 1983. At that time, Ry just has one child. In 1984, Ry married second husband and they were in KR៌s village. They just helped to make spikes (sharpened bamboo) for the KR.
In 1990, [Ta] Mok took people from top to live at bottom of the Mountain. However, they had to live in order of their divisions. In 1993, the KR boycotted from first general election, and then the KR had internal conflict. In 1998, the KR integrated with the Cambodian government and [Ta] Mok was arrested by the government and people got freedom to do their jobs. The government has built more schools, hospitals for people.
