Huon was born in O village, Sang Vaey commune, Chi Kreng district, Siem Reap province. Huon៌s father is Chhem Ham and his mother, Pe. Huon has one sister and two brothers. Huon is second in his family. Huon became a Buddhist monk for five years in Khsach pagoda within O village.
In 1971, Huon resigned from being a monkshood and volunteered to join the KR movement. Huon was in Unit 19 of Region 35 within Zone 304 unitil the KR gained power in April 1975. [Ta] Hoh was a chief of the unit.
After 1975, the KR sent Unit 19 to Kampong Thom. Huon and other soldiers were in Kampong Thom for whole of the KR regime period. Huon added that he and other soldiers were assigned to work in rice field.
When the Vietnamese entered in Cambodia in January 1979, Huon followed the KR into forest. Huon was near a bottom of Phnom Chi. First Huon joined with a unit of Division 502. [Ta] Phat was a chief of the unit.
In 1980, Huon married to his wife, Hao Ran. Aftermath, Huon and his wife climbed up Dangrek Mountain at Mom Bei, the KR military base [1001]. There, Huon joined with Division 801. So Saroeun was a chief of the division. At that time, Huon was assigned to teach children in the division.
In late 1980s, the KR went down to live in Anlong Veng areas. At that time the KR separated another Division 709 from Division 801. The new division was in O-Svay. [Ta] Khorn was a chief of the new division. The KR also sent Huon to join with the new division and taught children within the division.
