Kim Samet, male, 62 years old and lives in Prey Sa-ak village, Trapeang Prasat commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. Samet៌s wife៌s name is Cheng Pol, 53 years old. Samet has four daughters and 8 sons. Currently, Samet is a member of Trapeang Prasat district council.
Samet was born in Krabei Prey village, Samraong commune, Tramkak district, Takeo province. Samet៌s father៌s name is Kim Suong and his mother, Ung Nhen. His parents died when the Vietnamese arrived in Cambodia in 1979. Samet has three sisters and two brothers. Samet is third in his family. Samet studied grade 4 (old system) in Ang Tasaom High School. Samet quit from the school soon after the coup d៌état in 1970. Samet volunteered to join the KR movement in April/May 1970. Aftermath, the KR sent him to supervise Krabei village and then he was promoted to be a chief of Samroang commune. In 1973, Semet served as a military company៌s chief of Tramkak district. There were 120 soldiers in the unit. After the KR came to power in April 1975, Samet was promoted to be military៌s chief of Tramkak district. At that time, Priek Khom was a chief of Tramkak district. Pich Chim was a deputy chief the district and Saom Dan was a member committee of the district. Samet said that his military unit was near Damrei Romiel Mountain. In 1977, the KR sent Pich Chim, Saom Dan; and Samet to Central Zone. There, Pich Chim was chief of rubber plantation of Central Zone. Saom Dan and Kim Samet was a chief and deputy chief of Chamkar Andong Rubber plantation. Samet and other KR cadres fled into forest within Kampong Thom province with when Vietnamese entered Cambodia in January 1979. In 1980, Samet climbed Dangrek Mountain. Samet was at the KR military base [1001]. It៌s located at Mom Bei (Tonle Ropeou) which was near Cambodia-Thailand-Lao border. There Samet joined Division 417. Ke Pauk, Tep Pauch; and Chum Cheat were leaders of the Division. Samet was under Chum Cheat supervision. The KR sent Samet from the mountain to operate within Chamkar Leu and Stung Trang districts of Kampong Cham province. Samet was sent back to top of the Mountain when he got injured in late 1980s. Samet came down and lived in Trapeang Prasat when the KR took over the area from PRK in 1990. Samet informed that the KR organized Trapeang Prasat administration as district, communes and village in 1991. There are six communes within Trapeang Prasat district include Preah Pralay, Tomnop Dach, Bakk Anloung, Trapeang Prasat, O-Svay; and Pha-Av communes. |
