Sem Samol, male, 57 years old and lives in O-Rumduol village, Preah Pralay commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. Samol៌s wife is Kun Thea. Samol has three daughters and two sons. Samol is a chief of O-Rumduol village.
Samol was born in Khvaing village, Bakk Kdaong commune, Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province. Samol៌s father is Thuon and his mother, Chuon. Samol has one sister and two brothers. Samol is youngest in his family. Samol studied grade 10 (old system) at Watt Khvaing Primary School. Samol quitted from the school in 1966-67 and then he helped his parents in rice field. In 1972, Samol volunteered to join the KR movement. First, Samol served as a soldier in Rovieng for one year. Sang was a chief of the district. Hang was a chief of Preah Vihear Region [103]. In 1973 the KR sent Samol to fight against Lon Nol soldiers in Kampong Thom province. There, Samol was within Regiment 52, Division 2 of Northern Zone. Soeun was a chief of the Regiment. Suong was a chief of the Division. After the KR entered Phnom Penh in April 1975, the KR sent Samol to station at Neak Loeung for one month, and then Samol returned Phnom Penh. There, he was with his uncle, Chhaom alias Le who was a chief of weapon warehouse of general staff. Samol had a duty to guard the warehouse in Tuol Kok during the KR regime. When the Vietnamese entered in Cambodia in 1979, Samol escaped out Phnom Penh through National Road number 6 with his uncle, Le and other KR to O-Smach. Samol climbed up Dangrek Mountain. Samol was in the KR military base [808], and then Samol moved to [1002]; and last one was [1003]. Samol was in Division 616. Nhan, Chon; and Le were the division៌s leaders. There were five regiments include Regiment 51, Regiment 15, Regiment 16, Regiment 17; and Regiment 18. Samol was in regiment 18. Chay and Sao Than were leaders of the regiment. At that time, Samol operated within Sangkum Thmei and kou Len districts. In 1988, Le was killed and Samol believed that Nhan ordered his bodyguards to kill Le. After the murderer, the regiment 18 asked to separate from the division, because the regiment was under Le supervision. Aftermath Regiment 18 moved to Preah Pralay and merged with division 612. Division 612៌s office was in Choam Sla of Thailand territory. However, Regiment still operated with Sang Thmei and Kou Len districts of Preah Vihear province. |
