Hanoi-Vietnamese theories about the origins of the current conflict along the Cambodian border lay the entire blame at the feel of Phnom Penh "reactionary leaders" and by externsion, their Chinese allies. This political explanation is rooted in a past of ups and downs the story of half century of struggle by the three Indochinese nations Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos for freedom first from French colonisation, than from American interference.
