Summary / Abstract :

The Cambodian war lasted just over-five years. It killed estimated 250.000 persons and left one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful nations in ruins. In 1949 the centuries-old Kingdom of Cambodia which had accepted Franch protection in 1863, received autonomy and four years later, full in dependence. The same year Communist, mostly from Cambodia's Vietnamess minority became active in the country.
