The brutal regime of Pol Pot was overthrows in Kampuchea by a pro-Vietnamese group led by Heng Sarin and backed by Vietnamese troops. The new government quiekly scized countrol of all major towns. The flow of refugees into Thailand wich had been going on since 1975, stopped.
