Prince Sihanouk believed the Vietnamese dry season offensive in Cambodia would wipe out most of remaining forces of Pol Pot communist regime. Pekin's ambassador to Cambodia and number of Chinese military technicians had remained with Pol Pot regime, but Sihanouk said that most of Cambodian communist leader including Pol Pot and Khiev Samphan were in Thailand.
