Rainy season plan not fulfilled : Threat of food shortage - The result of the 1987 monsoon season was only a little more than 73% of plan, that is some 191,700 ha less than the 1986, monsoon figure. Also 80,300 ha of subsidiary food crops, or over 75% of the annual plan, were planted, a shortfall of 2,130 ha compared with the previous year.
