About two million Kampucheas, affected by hostilities in their country, sought refuge near or on the Thai frontier during the period 1978/79. The large scale international assistance which followed was mobilized and administered by the UNICEF, ICRC and UNHCR with WFP being made responsible for the provision of food assistance.
