China's President, Mr. Yang Shangkun yesterday ended months of speculation then he formally invited the Soviet leader. Mr. Mikhail Gorbachev, to visit China on May 15-16. This will be the first Sino-Soviet summit in 30 years. The visiting Soviet Foreign Minister, Mr. Eduard Shevardnadze, accepted the invitation, passed on by his counterpart, Mr. Qian Qichen, in their second meeting.
