During the weekend talks , the visiting Cambodian and Laotian leaders met with Vietnamese officials to discuss the situation in Cambodia . where a Hanoi-backed government is pitted against a resistance coalition dominated by the Khmer Rouge, held responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people during their 1975-1979 rule.
