My name is Nau Khann. I am a 69 year-old female currently living in Kok Samrong Village, Roluos Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province. I would like to file a complaint form with the Khmer Rouge Tribunal regarding the starvation deaths of my husband, children, and an elder sister and brother-in-law.
Starvation: In 1976, I lived in Prey Toting Village, Prey Toting Commune, Prey Toting District, Battambang Province. The Khmer Rouge separated me from my family. My husband, Svay Saroeun, was assigned to dig canals at Prek Chik. The unit chief was named Ouch. The food ration was one can of rice for thirty people. We were forced to do hard labor for long hours and the food ration was insufficient. My husband was then sent to the front line to work for five days. Ouch told me that my husband passed away because he didn’t have enough to eat. He died while he was digging a canal at Prek Chik. In 1977, my daughter Svay Siphat, son Svay Borann, elder sister Nau Leap, and brother-in-law Ieng Phet, died of hunger because the unit chief, Ouch, didn’t distribute adequate food rations. Ouch had received his orders from the chief, but I never knew that person’s name. My son was seriously sick and my daughter vomited and had diarrhea. They both later passed away. At that time, I took care of my children and younger sister at the hospital located in Prey Toting. I would like to file a complaint against the leaders of the regime of Democratic Kampuchea, which caused the deaths of my husband, children and younger sister. |
