Japan's first attempt at playing the peacemaker in a regional dispute ended in a "half success" when Cambodian resistance leader Prince Norodom Sihanouk and Premier Hun Sen of the Vietnamese- backed government in Phnom Penh signed a communique on June 05, calling for a ceasefire in the country's civil war.
