Hoping to cash in on a gold rush near Memot in Kampong Cham Province in order to fund its fight against the resistance, the state of Cambodia government set up a committee in April to exploit gold extraction in fields just 15 km from the Vietnamese border, AFP reported Hong Kong, in English 0205 gmt May 2, 1991.
