According to the agricultural office of Battambang Province, during the last rainy season the province planted 143,222 ha of rice. This is a low rate of planting. Drought, which lasted in the province from the beginning to the end of the rainy season damaged 52,036 ha of rice and therefore the total acreage that still can yield rice this year is only 96,285 ha.
