I am Srey Peou, a female currently living in Svay Ming Village, Bakou Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province.

Execution:

Before the Khmer Rouge took control of the country, my family and I lived in Chak Ang-re Leu in Phnom Penh. When the Khmer Rouge seized control of Phnom Penh, my family and I were evacuated to our home village of Daem Krong Village [I don’t know the current name of this village]. There, my family and I were ordered to work and eat separately in the cooperative. More than two years later, three combatants armed with guns arrived at my home. They said they needed my husband, Moch Pan (20 years old), older brother Srey Bau (20 years old), and Uncle Phatt (30 years old), to carry earth and work at Kok Trap (Unit 2). The three didn’t refuse, but followed orders by packing their belongings and going with the cadres. I believe that the three of them must have been taken to Sang Prison because later I heard from workers in Unit 2 that people who were assigned to carry earth were all taken to Sang Prison. Since then I have never heard any information about them. My cousin En Nhan was killed by the Khmer Rouge because he was a teacher. I learned this from his wife Svay Sa Met. Two other cousins, namely Chan and Phat, were both executed by the Khmer Rouge without explanation. I found out about their executions from their wives, whom I encountered while working.

I sincerely hope that the court will prosecute the Khmer Rouge as soon as possible and deliver justice to the Cambodian people, especially the victims.
