On 19th May 1969, At very short notice, press attaches at diplomatic mission in Phnom Penh were invited by the ministry of foreign affairs to travel to battembeng in order to see a number of Khmer serei who were said to have surrendered to the Cambodian government in the Phnom Penh Melai area, A number of Thai civilian and military personnel said to have been captured in the same area, and arms and equipment surrendered or captured during the operation.
