Summary / Abstract :

Exactly one year ago on the 11th June 1970 the government of the Khmer Republic issued appeal for all the countries, particularly for those who signed the 1954 Hague convention for the protection of cultural properties in case of armed conflicts, to take the necessary steps and appropriate measure to help to preserve and save its artistic and culture heritage. One year has passed during which the government of the Khmer Republic has done all it possibly could as well on the international level to protect its cultural treasure especially regarding the Angkor monuments as whole. The government has on its own initiative applied from the very beginning of the conflict the 1954 Hague conventions.
