Summary / Abstract :

While a negotiated settlement could serve China's interest in Cambodian Independence and Neutrality, particularly Vis-A-Vis DRV, Sihanouk remain China's most important link with Cambodia and China's is most unlikely to weakly that connection by departing from the position of firm opposition to any negotiations recently re-iterated by Sihanouk on behalf of the insurgent leaders.
